Pre-Matriculated Courses

Courses taken at other universities prior to enrolling in a graduate program at Cal Poly, referred to as pre-matriculated courses, may be used to satisfy graduate degree requirements.  For a more detailed description of your matriculation date read https://csc.calpoly.edu/gr/matriculation/ .  There are a number of restrictions:

  • No more than 12 units of pre-matriculated courses  can be used.
  • The units must not have counted toward another degree.  They need to be truly extra units.
  • The graduate coordinator must approve each course individually.

All approved pre-matriculated units must be officially transferred to Cal Poly.  The process requires an official transcript and an evaluation request.  If the units do not appear in your PolyProfile they haven’t been transferred. Work with the graduate coordinator to make sure the process is complete at least 2 quarters prior to graduating.
