Eligibility for the B.S. + M.S. Program

To be eligible for the Blended B.S. + M.S. Program you need to be working toward one of the B.S. degrees:

  • BS Computer Science (180 units)
  • BS Computer Engineering (192 units)
  • BS Software Engineering (182 units)

A minor in Computer Science does not make you eligible for the blended program. If you are not eligible for the BMS program you may still be eligible for the MS program.

PBCO TERM

The first step to verify your eligibility is to determine your required PBCO term.  This is the term you pass the number of degree applicable units in your paired BS major (see major list above).  Units that do not count toward your BS major (e.g., bowling) or count toward a minor / double major, do not count.  This will normally be the term you finish your undergraduate degree requirements, however you also need to count units that qualify for a hypothetical MS degree.  This will only impact you if you have taken “extra” technical electives during your undergraduate program.  You can figure this out by carefully reviewing your undergraduate DPR.  The latest you can apply to the BMS program is the term prior to your PBCO term.  In addition, you must meet the GWR and lower division requirements prior to your PBCO term.

GWR Requirements

PBCO requires that your GWR is complete as indicated on your PolyProfile*.  If your GWR is not completed in time to file your PBCO you are not eligible for the BMS program.  There is no exception to this policy.  If you are considering applying to the BMS program the best advice is to complete the GWR requirement* as soon as possible.

* This means your PolyProfile must show “Complete” for GWR.  Being enrolled in a class doesn’t count.  Having received a passing grade / score in a GWR course or portfolio doesn’t count.  Your PolyProfile must show it is complete.  There are no exceptions.

LOWER DIVISION COURSE Work

You are required to complete all required lower division coursework (course numbers 2**/2*** or less) prior to your PBCO term.  This includes general education and support coursework.  You are not eligible for the BMS program if you do not meet this requirement.
