Eligibility Requirements for the M.S. Degree Program
Eligibility for admission to the M.S. program requires a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution and good standing at the last college attended. All applicants are expected to have a common background in Computer Science prior to applying. This is demonstrated by holding a B.S. in Computer Science, a Minor in Computer Science, or a B.S. degree in a field closely related to Computer Science.
If your undergraduate education does not meet the criteria, you can complete the courses described in the course catalog prior to applying. Transcripts demonstrating successful completion are sufficient. The courses do not need to be part of a formal degree.
These courses, and any prerequisites, can be completed at Cal Poly via our Extended Education program. Alternatively, comparable courses can be completed at other institutions prior to applying.
International M.S. Applicants
International applicants must meet all the standard eligibility criteria and demonstrate proficiency in english. Proficiency can be demonstrated through standard English testing. The list of acceptable tests and test scores can be found on the Cal Poly Admissions Site.
Cal Poly’s International Center maintains additional resources to help you more easily transition to Cal Poly.
